Blah, Blah, Blah.

Okay – if I must:
Hunter and Dana
To summarize it: There is no greater joy than watching a person’s eyes grow wide and bright once understanding and ideas have set; I tenaciously work for this.

I am an “Understanding” lover with an affinity for technology.

Each child and adult is different; each one needs to be really talked to, on their level and in their world.  That is the only way to reach and help them; that is a challenge like no other.

That’s why I do what I do.

The formal and stuffy introduction, if you must: I spent 25+ years: training, working, teaching, helping. I studied, practice and taught adults project management  before and while working for a BS in Alternative Energy Engineering. I wanted to help solve the world’s problems somehow only to discover after a year into my internship that there was no way I could do it behind a desk. I’m a people person — not just a data person like my husband.

I moved over into K-18 Education a few years after my son came along, and I’ve been there since.

I am back in school at Western Oregon University. I finished a BS Interdisciplinary: Business, Humanities (Writing and Communication) and Geosciences. I am currently a GTA (Graduate Teacher Assistant) while working through a Masters of Education in Information Technology, Instructional Design, e-Learning.

My ideal life is to be a full time Educator, utilizing technology to create and communicate knowledge and help them achieve their career and life goals in both the career and academia setting.

  1. Hello Ms. Houston Jackson,

My name is Amanda Tradwick and I’m a freelance writer and researcher for CollegeGrants.org, and I really like the work you’re doing with Youth Muse. I would love the opportunity to be a guest author and was hoping to reach out to you about that. Would you be interested in taking a look at a guest post submission – certainly, something relevant to advantages of online education?

I can try and tackle any specific topic you wish, or I can simply come up with an angle that I believe would make a good fit for your blog. I just need a simple attribution to my website (collegegrants.org) in the author by-line. Thanks so much for taking the time to read this; please let me know if this is something you might be interested in.
    Thanks!

    • Amanda,

YouthMUSE is back up and running. I would love to post your blog, but I never got it back after I asked for photos. Are you still interested?

  2. I enjoyed reading your bio and I also like your website. Your excitement about learning and teaching children is apparent. I am a retired music teacher and have written two children’s rhyming picture books, Tired of My Bath and Tired of School. The third book, Tired of Being Different should be out in February. John Allen, the little boy in the stories is tired of many things. In each story he comes to like what he’s tired of. I hope you’ll check them out on my website, dicymcculloughbooks.com.
